Revive Us Again (Part 2)
Psalms 85:6Revival can only come from God
The Psalmist declared “will YOU not revive us again”. This is a simple statement to say that Revival can only come from God, but it is a truth that many in the Christian world have not understood. If we came to the conviction that Revival is provided by God and only God, then we would not have so many people going to and fro, from country to country, method to method seeking Revival. This is what is happening today in the body of Christ; people are looking for Revival in a denomination, a church, a movement or a man etc when the giver of Revival who is God Almighty is wherever we are. I know of people that have gone all over the world to see apparent Revivals and they are still the same, many have brought back with them the latest teaching or strategy for Revival and it has not been successful in their lives or church, why? Because their seeking is wrong. They are seeking the effects of an apparent Revival instead of seeking wholeheartly the giver of Revival. You and I can have Revival in our church, office, house , under a tree because God is there, He is waiting for a people who will take Him at is word, believe in His promises and declare to Him will YOU not revive us again. The Bible says in Joel 2:28 “and it shall come to pass afterwards that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh”. In acts 2: 2 says “and suddenly there came a sound from HEAVEN, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting”.
We see clearly that God is the fountain for Revival and refreshing. So our responsibility is to call upon the name of the Lord and expect that no matter where we are geographically we can have Revival. As we come to this realization and believe in it then we will not be frustrated looking everywhere for Revival, we will look upwards and cry out to God to Revive us again.Revival Brings About a Rejoicing in Jesus
Jesus is the centre of all true Revival. He becomes our song, our joy, our preaching, and our satisfaction. We fall in love with Jesus all over again; we come back to our first love. This is what Revival will do in the life of a Christian or a church it renews your love and passion for Him, as a result a longing for God's word, prayer, holiness is stirred up within us.
In Revelation chapter 2 we see Jesus Christ speaking to the church of Ephesus and it is interesting to see that He gives this church about nine good qualities that they have as a church but then in verse 4 He says “nevertheless I have this against you that you have left your first love”. Is it possible to be doing all the right things that is expected of us as Christians but not be in love with Jesus? Yes it is and this is where we need to be revived. Many Christians know how to be Christians they know what to say and how to act, but they are not on fire for God.
They are what I call professional Christians they do what they do because they have to do it, but God does not want us to do things because we have to, but because we want to and because we are in love with Him. If you have fallen into a routine in your Christian life and it feels like a burden to pray, read the Bible and go to church then you desperately need Revival. Revival will bring us back to that first love, our prayer life will be different, our praise and worship will be full of life, and church will be a place we want to go to.
God is not impressed by all the things we do for Him, He is more interested in why and how we do them.
Let's not be a Christian or a church that has good qualities without passionate love for Jesus, but lets be a people that are in love passionately with Jesus. For this we need Revival.
Revival Brings About Change in Our LivesWhen Revival comes to a person or a church there is an intense desire to be holy and to live a life of obedience to God.
Charles Finney revered as the father of modern day Revival, called Revival:
“A renewed conviction of sin and repentance followed by an intense desire to live in obedience to God. It is giving up ones will to God in deep humility".
We need holiness to come back to the church of Jesus Christ, but this will only come when true Holy Ghost Revival comes. There is such an ease and complacency about today, the world has crept into the church, no longer is the world being turned upside down for Jesus by the church but it is the standard of the Church being turned upside down by the world.
The devil's music is in Gods house and the world's standard of dress has crept in unnoticed. The philistine's method has become the method of the church and the church is giving the world what they want to hear and see and not what they need to hear and see.
The standard of The Bible and holiness has been lowered and such an easy grace is being tossed around in the church. That which is holy has been profaned and there is no demand for a separation from sin. The church is God's mouth piece on earth and what hope is there for a world that is dying when the church no longer speaks the truth or lives the
truth. We need a Revival that will bring us back to being the church that God desires us to be, a holy and separated people unto Him.
Will you not revive us again and that your people may rejoice in you?
May a people that are willing to pray and seek God rise up in this generation and may God give us the Revival that is so desperately needed.
