Biblical/ Faith Confession
Mathew 12:36As believers we must be ever cognisant that our words have power and that as a result of this we must endeavour to learn how to confess the word of God daily over our lives and in every situation we may find ourselves in.
Words are the natural way that faith is expressed, and what better words to confess than the word of God. The word, confess in the greek is the word “Homologeo” and means: to say the same as. Thus for the believer, confession is to say the same with our mouth as God says in His word. It is making the words of our mouth agree with the written word of God, Psalms 116:10.
The text for this small devotion is found in Mathew 12:36 and says “But I say unto you (Jesus speaking) that every IDLE word that men shall speak, they shall give an account thereof in the day of judgement. This is a powerful statement and rich with teaching on the power of words, in the case of this verse, negative words.
The word IDLE in the greek is the word “argos” and means: inactive, unemployed, lazy, barren, no assignment, unprofitable, unproductive and without work. In the context of this verse watch what Jesus says in verse 37 “by your words you shall be condemned”, in other words every word that is inactive, barren, unemployed, unproductive etc will begin to take root over our lives and will result ultimately in judgement.
Given this truth that there are idle words, we must also flip the coin over and see the truth that there are also productive words or what I like to call Biblical/faith confession. As believers we must train ourselves to watch over our words and abstain from confessing idle words that will entrap us (Proverbs 6:2), on the contrary lets speak and confess words that are opposite to idle, words that are productive, active, on assignment, full of life and faith, with an employment. And there is no more productive, active and faith filled word than the word of the almighty God.
Confess the word of God over the situation that you are in, give your words an employment and a mission. Make your Biblical/faith confession stand on the authority of Gods written word no matter what is going on around you, the facts of God’s word are true and are not changed by what you are feeling or seeing. 2 Corinthians 5:7.
Biblical/Faith confession is not to deny the negative that is going on around you, but simply says: what is going on around me does not change the truth of God’s word.
I encourage you to begin to confess with faith the word of God and be blessed by the fruit and words of your mouth, Proverbs 18:20-21.
I believe that this subject is of the utmost importance to the believer and has been greatly confused, so we will be preaching on it very soon.
God bless you.
