Godly Women (Part 2)
January - 2008Proverbs 31:10-31
Many lectures, studies and sermons have, surely, been given with regards to this topic; however we must understand that reaching our goal of being Godly is a lifestyle which is progressive. The closer to Jesus we get the more Godly we will become and the high standards of chapter 31 of the book of Proverbs will become more of a reality in our lives. One of the most impacting points we can see in this chapter is the versatility that God put in all of us as women to do so much and yet be capable to have balance in life. In this day in age, the Biblical priorities are simply being ignored by the women in the Church who are so focused on their careers, that serving their family or God for that matter is too much of a sacrifice. It is so sad to see so many children being raised by complete strangers at childcare centres because their mom's are simply too busy building their careers. I am not saying that taking your child to a child care centre is a sin, but our priority as mothers and wife should always be our family. The woman admired in our chapter, was a hard working woman running her own business (v16), buying, selling and investing, she did charity work but without neglecting her family in any area.
I believe women can do it all, not because it makes me feel better but because God has left a number of examples of women who above and foremost served God and as a result were successful in everything they did. This, sisters, should be our inspiration, that the Lord has made us so incredibly capable however let's not forget the fountain of our capabilities, ie The Lord himself. Verse 30 gives us the key to every woman's real success in life, the fear of the Lord , do you truly want to be a godly woman? Start by fearing and serving the Lord Jesus, prioritise your life in the order of God which is: loving God above everything, provide for your family in all areas, be hard working, serve your church and your community. So ladies let's be successful, be virtuous and be called blessed.God bless you all
